Link connector serves for combining roller chain segments ending with inner links (rollers), or closing the chain with an odd number of links.

The structure of chain-connect link:

The connecting link (lock) consists of two plates in one of which two fingers are pressed. When closing the chain, another plate is worn on the fingers and is fixed to the link with the help of splinters or a special spring locking bracket.
